Port Antonio is eight and a half miles (13 and a half kilometers) to the West North West. Travelers looking for a spot that's a little out of the way, but still active, may want to give Boston Bay a try. It's a little bit removed from Jamaica's urban areas, but it's not dead and empty either.

Amenities and Ambiance

The sands shine with golden tones and the waves are rocky and rough along Boston Bay.

There is also a restaurant on-location, which many Boston Bay visitors find convenient and satisfying. There are various types of dining experiences in Jamaica that visitors can partake in, but dining at the beach can be a particularly memorable one. So, you may wish to consider getting pre-packed lunches from your hotel if they offer them. Or, on your way to the beach you could grab some carry-out from a casual dining spot.

The snack bar located at this spot is perfect for quick lunches and cold drinks, too. Sometimes, visitors will be able to buy food from one of the local vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Consider using this beach's picnic tables, which make beach dining less messy, and are good spots for lounging.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. You will find the water here is of good snorkeling quality, so bring your equipment if you want to do some underwater exploration. Apart from the tourists and guests to the island, locals come out to sell their jerk meals to the public and hang out on the beach. A good mix of people keep this beach somewhat crowded.

The crowd at this shore will vary according to the time of day, season, and other factors. While some coastlines along Jamaica are unusually calm, others will be bustling with visitors every day, particularly during seasons of high tourism. This means that the availability of these amenities could be affected by how many people show up that day. Since Boston Bay is in an area which is not near many tourist spots; the availability of certain amenities likely won't be decreased.
