Jamaican travelers have plenty of options for active (and not so active) adventures.  Whether you're interested in a leisurly day on a chartered yacht or roughing it for an afternoon hike through Jamaica's beautiful mountains, there are activities to capture almost anyone's interests.

Sports

...world-class golf courses...

Anglers can spend a day out struggling with famous deep sea fish, while snorkelers can come face to face with fish in their own habitat.  Deep sea fishing is especially popular in Jamaica, with mahi mahi, wahoo, and barracuda some of the best catches to be found. Meanwhile, divers and snorkelers can swim among the colorful coral and sponges.  Montego Bay offers the best snorkeling options, while divers can find diverse and exciting sites regardless of which city you take off from.  Whether or not you fish or snorkel, you can always sail out on Jamaica's waters with a hired charter or on a cruise tour.

Of course, less adventure-seeking travelers have plenty of activities to enjoy as well. Tour the island by renting a bike or hiking the trails, or stay close to the resort and get in some laps at the pool.  Hit the links at over a dozen world-class golf courses on the island, and swing that racket for a game of tennis at most large resorts.  The Half Moon Resort offers guests both.

Spectator sports attract quite a crowd in Jamaica as well.  Football (better known as soccer in the U.S.) and cricket are at the top of the sports food chain, but visitors might also want to check out American football and basketball which are growing in popularity.

Shopping

Native goods, from craft work to local Blue Mountain coffee, are popular souvenirs and gifts, and most travelers budget a bit of time for shopping. On top of duty free shopping at a lot of shops, travelers can shave between 20 and 30 percent off the price tag of designer goods and brand name products by buying them in Jamaica.

Culture

...dancing in the streets...

Meanwhile, those interested in taking in a bit of culture may enjoy events and festivals, like Carnival and Junkanoo.  Both celebrations have people dancing in the streets, wearing elaborate costumes, and really letting loose in masquerade fashion.  Festivals aren't the only times parties heat up in Jamaica, however.  Nightlife is as spicy as the ubiquitous jerk seasoning.  The most happening nightlife is centered in the tourist driven areas such as Kingston and Negril, and visitors can find everything from dive bars to dance clubs that keep the party going until sun up.

Vacationers to Jamaica are encouraged to take advantage of the varied activities found all over the island.  No matter what kind of vacation you're looking to have, there are activities to suit your lifestyle. From the most active vacationers to those who want to spend their vacation time relaxing, Jamaica knows how to entertain its visitors.
