Travelers make their own rules when renting a vacation spot in Jamaica

Delightful Dwellings

Rental properties are available as small studio apartments or spacious villas, allowing large groups to stretch out or couples to linger in a private romantic getaway. Because Jamaica offers so many variations in rental properties, you should be able to find almost anything you desire.

Travelers who like freedom and autonomy on their vacations often enjoy rental properties, not only because of a sense of freedom, but because they can prepare their own meals and usually will have more room than hotels may offer.

Most rental properties are designed for vacationers staying in Jamaica for more than one week, and during the Christmas season many spots may only be rented for periods of 10 days or more. Of course, each rental property is different when it comes to rules and amenities.

Apartments

Apartments in Jamaica provide basic shelter, and while they are fine accommodations, they often have fewer frills than their other rental counterparts. They can be rented with maid service, but do not always include it. Some apartments may not have swimming pools or even a front desk. However, they can be good options for longer stays.

Cottages

Cottages are generally small and simple. These rental options will likely contain a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom but little else. Still, they can be extremely popular during the high season in Jamaica and in many cases need to be booked at least five or six months in advance.

Condos and Villas

The most popular rental properties in Jamaica are condos and villas. Condos often have a reception desk, and may seem more like a suite in a big hotel. Most condo complexes have at least one swimming pool.

Villas are generally rented by the week and are often self-catering. But they can be as different as a quaint, beachside building to a mountain mansion. A full staff may be included, but you'll almost always find some maid services, as well as many home essentials. Jamaica is home to a warm hospitality that means you won't need to bring sheets or cooking utensils for your stay.
